Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about working with Carolina Optics — from your first demo to long-term support across Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Buying Through Carolina Optics

How is buying through Carolina Optics different from buying direct?

When you buy direct, you get a salesperson who covers a wide territory and moves on after the sale. With Carolina Optics, you get a dedicated local partner who handles everything from initial consultation through installation, training, and long-term support. We represent multiple manufacturers, which means our recommendations are based on what fits your practice — not a quota for a single product line.

What states do you cover?

We serve practices throughout Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Our territory focus means faster response times, in-person demos at your office, and same-region support when you need it — not a phone queue routed to a national call center.

Do you carry products from multiple manufacturers?

Yes. We are an authorized distributor for iCare, Visionix (formerly Optovue), Reichert, S4OPTIK, Keeler, Marco, and several other leading ophthalmic brands. This multi-line approach lets us match equipment to your clinical needs and budget rather than pushing a single manufacturer's catalog. See our full product lineup.

Demos & Evaluation

Can I see equipment in my office before buying?

Absolutely. We bring equipment directly to your practice for a hands-on demo with your staff and your patients. Seeing how a device performs in your actual workflow — not a showroom — is the best way to evaluate fit. Contact us to schedule a no-obligation demo at your convenience.

How long does a typical demo take?

Most in-office demos run 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the device. We work around your patient schedule so there is minimal disruption. For more complex systems like OCT or multimodal imaging platforms, we may recommend a slightly longer session to cover the full clinical workflow.

What if I'm comparing several products?

That is exactly what an independent distributor is for. We can demo competing products side by side in your office and walk you through the clinical and financial trade-offs of each option. We have no incentive to steer you toward one brand — our job is to help you make the right decision for your practice.

Installation & Support

What does white-glove installation include?

We handle delivery, uncrating, physical setup, calibration, network connectivity, and hands-on staff training — all included. You should not have to read a manual or call a help line on day one. We stay until your team is confident and the device is fully operational in your workflow.

How quickly can equipment be installed after ordering?

Timelines vary by product and manufacturer availability, but most standard orders are delivered and installed within two to four weeks. For high-demand items we will give you a realistic timeline upfront — no vague promises. If you have a hard deadline, let us know and we will work to accommodate it.

What happens if something goes wrong after installation?

You call us directly — not a national 1-800 number. Because we are local to VA, NC, and SC, we can often resolve issues the same day, whether that means remote troubleshooting or an on-site visit. We also coordinate manufacturer warranty service so you have a single point of contact throughout the process.

Financing & Investment

Are financing options available?

Yes. We work with several healthcare-specific financing partners that offer flexible lease and loan structures, including options with deferred payments and Section 179 tax advantages. We will help you find a plan that aligns with your cash flow and growth timeline.

Can I trade in old equipment?

In many cases, yes. We can evaluate your current equipment and apply trade-in value toward a new purchase. Even if your existing device does not have significant resale value, we can handle removal and proper disposal as part of the installation process.

How do I evaluate ROI on new equipment?

We help you build a straightforward ROI analysis based on your patient volume, reimbursement rates, and workflow efficiency gains. For revenue-generating devices like dry eye treatment platforms or retinal imaging systems, most practices see a return within 12 to 18 months. We are happy to walk through the numbers with you before you commit.
